    Volunteers

    Each year hundreds of volunteers play an instrumental role in the continued success of UPAF's Ride for the Arts sponsored by Miller Lite. Whether it's serving as route support, assisting riders at the Master Lock Bike Port or providing assistance at the start line or Finish Line Party, there's sure to be an opportunity of interest for you.

    VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

    Sentry Volunteer
    You're the eyes and ears for traveling cyclists by providing directions and assistance for upcoming turns, oasis locations and busy intersections. Sentries (two per location) are located along the route to help participants stay along the designated route and ensure safety is maintained at all times. Locations and volunteer times vary according to the routes. This position entails approximately five hours of support from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., pending the route location.

    Bike Port Volunteer
    Welcome riders to the Finish Line Party by assisting them with tagging their bikes (similar to a coat check system) and parking them at the bike port. Responsibilities also include assisting riders with retrieving their bikes following the Finish Line Party. Two shifts available: 8:30-11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

    Start Line/Finish Line Volunteer
    Assist participants as they are released and help make their way from the finish line to the Master Lock Bike Port. This position involves approximately four-five hours of support ranging from 6-10:30 a.m. or 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

    VOLUNTEER BENEFITS

    As a volunteer you'll receive a volunteer t-shirt and an invitation to the annual Volunteer Training/Party scheduled to be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on May 26, 2010, at the Miller Inn. The evening will include:
        •    Food and beverages, compliments of MillerCoors and Saz's State House;
        •    Learn specifics of your volunteer position and what to expect on the day of the Ride, Sunday, June 6;
        •    Pick-up your volunteer t-shirt; and
        •    Win cool prizes compliments of the Ride sponsors!
